Total

It's finally here. The debut album of SebastiAn. Total. This ones a packed release with 22 tracks! In the collection are some classic old tracks such as Dog, Motor and Ross Ross Ross, which have all seen LP treatment. The album features his most recent single 'Embody'; a funk-spritzed hit, quite unlike anything hes produced before!

Busy P (Pedro Winter/Head Honcho of Ed Banger Records) said this about the single:

"Embody" is not the boring "banger" you could expect from the man responsible
for heavy weight club hits "Smoking kills?" "Walkman" and "Ross Ross Ross"
Do I need to remind youI signed him for darker sounds like "Head/off", "shoot" or "HAL" ?
Did you know Daft Punk said he delivered the best remix they ever had for "Human after all" ?
When I heard "Embody" for the first time I imagined Prince and Sebastian in Paris, sharing a glass of wine."

Embody by Sebastian
Directed by SO-ME

In his own words:
"What I can give to an audience is my own truth. That comes from when I follow a need, something that has started to live inside me. It’s important to take the audience on a journey. People want to dance and be removed from their daily duties. There’s also a religious moment of a spiritual kind––a unification."

The album has a healthy amount of collaborations like M.I.A., Gaspard Auge (Justice), and Mayer Hawthorne, whose vocals are hypnotic and will most definitely have you putting 'Love In Motion' on repeat, and a signature track 'Yes couldn't of been more aptly named. Similar to Boys Noize's 'Yeah!', if you catch out drift. 'Total' still reeks with sebastiAn's signature sound. Noise, saturation, crackles, but always dirty funky. Blow this shit up!

Nu:Tone: Words and Pictures

Words and Pictures, Dan Gresham's third album

Dan Gresham aka Nu:Tone has recently released his new album 'Words and Pictures' on the infamous Hospital Records, which he has been signed to since 2003 and it sounds as if he is attempting to put vocal d'n'b back out there. It's jam packed with collaborations with the likes of: Heidi Levo, Kyan (with some soulful vocals), Natalie Williams, (who features on 4 of the songs!)

There are some wonderful tracks on this album including the opener, 'Shine In' with Natalie Williams, beautiful voice. Then there is 'The Feeling' with Ben Westbeech, definitely more of a Hospital vibe to this one. 'Coming Back' has a sharp edge to it with some delightfully crafted progressive sliding bass, Heidi Levo is on vocals for this masterpiece. Nu:Tone has also integrated some downtempo, dubstep-ish beat into 'Set Me Free' Overall, it's a varied album showing this producer can fire on all cylinders.

Nu:Tone - Set Me Free

Nu:Tone - Broken (ft. Kyan)

Super Acid

'Boys Noize has compiled 12 modern acid jams done by BNR artists and homies like Feadz, Joakim & Krikor and Brodinski tributing 20 years of Acid.
How to make a classic Acid track ?

First you need a Roland-Tb 303 Bassline which – back in 1982 – was made for musicians to replace the actual bass or guitar. It’s manual is the most annoying thing to read because it teaches you classic music lessons, no wonder that the idea of the Roland TB 303 been a real instrument have failed and noone wanted to buy the it.

In the middle of the 80′s Dj Pierre, member of Phuture produced a 12min track “Acid Trax” with just a drumachine and the 303, a total new sound created for the clubs. Shortly after a few more producers put that “useless” thing together with a drummachine like the Roland Tr 808 or 909, programmed a bassline pattern and recorded live sessions, abusing it’s incredible filters: Acid-House was born. A new genre was born.

Because the Roland Tb 303 got so expensive, you can find diverse clones of that wonderful machine and since 1 year you can even make Acid sounds with your phone – Boys Noize presents a compilation full of new, modern acid, made in all kinds of ways.
Some, well most, of the producers on this compilation have used the classic Roland303, some used a 303 clone, a 303 plug-in and some even rocked the 303 iphone app.
Some of the producers on this compilation spent their time with all kinds of analog gear and mixers to have the original “warm” sound they love and some others just use a fucking laptop. can you hear the difference ? well, i can – but do you really ?
And why release new Acid tracks when you can find the best ones made 10-20 years ago ?
Because this is some fresh Acid you havent heared before, produced by incredible young talents that know everything about the Acid-life, producers that take this genre to another level, into the future.

Love,
Boys Noize'

Don't Say We Didn't Warn You

Don't Say We Didn't Warn You', is a fresh rebirth of the dance-punk band. Its the follow up to 2008's 'You Have Know Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into', an album that was too diverse to fit into any genre and saw the band confounding expectations at every turn. But DIOYY blew up big, making a huge impact on the gig scene with their incendiary live performances, remixing everyone from Muse to Bloc Party to The White Stripes, and damn near breaking America, going on missions of electro conversion across North America in support of The Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails and Linkin Park and their own sold-out headline tour, and according to their twitter.

On one occasion, they had to 'pay for a new crowd barrier from [a] gig cos [the crowd] destroyed it'. Their new album, 'Don't Say We Didn't Warn You' is compiled from the "million" songs that DIOYY self-recorded - over six months in a tiny studio in Reading towards the end of 2009 and in piecemeal bedroom'n'kitchen sessions throughout 2010.
